Early days in our new place

So here we are in urbanesque Buda, TX on 2 acres.  Subdivisions surround, but our neighborhood is a flash to the past.  Our first weekend here I saw two teenage boys ride to the neighbor's on their bicycles, drop them in the front yard, and bang on to the inside of the house.  I thought, "OK, Leave it to Beaver, we're here."  And I smiled on the inside.  Because if there's one thing I want for my kids in this life, is to not let them know how hectic and crazy this world is.  Well, at least, not until they are old enough to cope and fight back.  Philip and I both had that, growing up in medium sized towns.  We loved that part of our childhood.  This is our escape and attempt to accomplish that life as grown ups.  Here in our small bedroom community of Austin, hellacious commute through the worst of our traffic to work and home again each day, but totally worth it.  Right?  I hope. :)

(I say hellacious though I know my friend Allison in Houston is 1.5 hrs best case scenario every day.  Mine is more like 40 mins - 1 hour each way.  Maybe I shouldn't complain then... Or call it 'hellacious.'  Truth is, I listen to some really awesome radio, news, and podcasts on my commute.  Just the average 2 hours a day bite out of my day can really be a drag.  And there is NO oops - left that at home - I'll be right back.)

Thus far we've lost a couple chick babies, planted a couple of trees, some herbs, and cleaned the pool a lot. But this is just the beginning, and we had A LOT of boxes to unpack. We have a lot of dreams for this new home of ours. Stay tuned.

Best,
Sarah
